I’M STARTING A NEW INSTAGRAM HASHTAG!

It’s no secret that I’m an advocate for curating your own Instagram feed – following accounts that spark joy and engaging with content you love. Similarly, I’ve been thinking recently about post reach and those mysterious little things called hashtags. While I have a selection that I use regularly, some of them are now so densely populated that I have little chance of being noticed on them, and I find it hard to filter through the posts to discover new accounts I enjoy.

I’ve been thinking of starting my own hashtag for a while, to build a sense of community and bring more photos onto my Instagram homepage that I relate to. A few things were important to me; I wanted something that reflects my content and is personal to me, but also something inclusive that others can get involved with and put their own spin on.

So, *drumroll please* I present to you…

#myfloraljoys

I settled on this little gem for a few reasons. First off, anyone that knows me will appreciate my love of anything floral and whimsical. I’m not ashamed to say more than half my wardrobe is dominated by floral prints – be it loud statement fuchsias on a pair of culottes, or intricately woven daisies on a cute embroidered tee. And my love for pretty blooms goes beyond the wardrobe. You’ll find them adorning my interiors too, from the bedding in my guest room to the tea towels in my kitchen.

That last paragraph sounds ridiculously twee, but that’s just the WORLD I LIVE IN HUN.

To give you a starting point, I’ve shared some ideas of how you could use this hashtag.

Inspiration for #myfloraljoys…

Floral Fashion

GET YOUR FLORAL DRESS OUT for the gram. Seriously – I want to see them. And anything else from your outfit collection that’s floral and pretty! Hashtag it!

Beautiful Blooms

Quite simply, share the joy of fresh flowers on this hashtag.

The Great Outdoors

We’ve all been on blossom watch recently. But how about snapping that wisteria that’s sitting pretty on a gorgeous cottage? What about those eye-catching wildflowers you’ve stumbled upon on your country walk?

Interiors

Show us how florals are bringing you joy through interiors. It might be a scented room spray or a cute cushion, or perhaps you’re staying in a character-filled Airbnb that’s surprised you with fresh flowers on arrival!

Food and drink

Serving up some homemade brownies on a pretty floral side plate? Adorning your cake with some edible flowers? If they’re bringing you some floral joy – hashtag it!

I’ll be sharing the posts from the hashtag on my Instagram Stories (and sometimes my feed too), so make sure to use #myfloraljoys and tag me @tegharriet so I don’t miss any. Don’t forget to follow the hashtag too.

Let’s create a space where we can inspire, uplift and find new content we love! Talking of inspiration, have you read 5 lifestyle bloggers to follow on Instagram?

I love this and I’ll certainly start using your hashtag where I can. I’m not much of a fashion blogger but I do enjoy posting small joys around my home, interiors and occasional beautiful blossoms.

I can’t wait to see everyone else’s content too under this hashtag.

I haven’t been on IG in ages, but I’ll certainly check this out next time I log in! There is so much you can do with this hashtag. I love how joy-inducing it sounds. 🙂

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
